Himmat Singh has become one of the most talked-about names in Indian domestic cricket after his stunning last-ball six against Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. However, long before this went viral, Himmat had already built a steady and respected career for Delhi across formats. Full of early promise and strong performances, his journey explains why he continues to be an important player in the domestic circuit. Born on 8 November 1996, Himmat is a right-handed batter and an off-break bowler. Having already played for Delhi in all major formats, he has also represented India at the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. His rise through age-group cricket and the consistent numbers in List A and first-class matches prove that he is a dependable middle-order player who stays calm under pressure. Strong performances in Delhi's Under-19 team got him a berth in the 2014-15 Ranji Trophy squad, though he didn't get a game that season. He made his List A debut for Delhi in the 2015-16 Vijay Hazare Trophy, aged just 19. At about the same time, an off-field controversy reached the headlines when his father Tejbir Singh filed a criminal defamation case against former cricketers Kirti Azad, Bishan Singh Bedi, Surinder Khanna and Sameer Bahadur over allegations about Himmat’s selection. The situation did not deter him, though, as he continued doing what he does best - cricket. He made his first-class debut during the Ranji Trophy in October 2017, making his T20 debut months later in January 2018. His progress continued with him being selected into India's squad for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, a major milestone in any domestic cricketer's career. This was followed by a big breakthrough later that year when he was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2019 IPL auction. He did not get many chances, but the experience helped him learn and improve. RCB released him ahead of the 2020 auction, but Himmat remained consistent in domestic cricket. He was then roped in by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 where he played three matches for the side, but did not get an opportunity to bat. However, his consistent performance in the domestic cricket secured his spot in LSG for the 2026 season as the franchise retained him ahead of the IPL 2026 Auction.
