CSK were 54/1 in the seventh over but then they kept losing wickets consistently and did not get any momentum in their innings eventually finishing on 116/9 after their full quota of 20 overs. In reply, Kings XI Punjab were choked by the CSK spinners led by player-of-the-match Muttiah Muralidaran as the CSK trio of spinners Muralidaran, Ashwin and Raina picked up 2 wickets each and eventually KXIP just managed 92.8 despite playing all the 20 overs with just two of their batters getting to double-digit scores. This was then the lowest score defended in IPL, a record which stood for almost 16 years. 3- Sunrisers Hyderabad - 118 vs Mumbai Indians in Mumbai, 2018 (won by 31 runs) SRH, with their strong bowling lineup, had the knack of defending low totals and this was one of them under skipper Kane Williamson who was the joint-top scorer for them in the match along with Yusuf Pathan making 29 each out of the total of 118 as a collective bowling effort from home-team Mumbai Indians were exceptional with the ball and on the field. In reply, only two Mumbai batters got to two-digits as SRH managed to bundle them out for just 87 securing a big 31-run win. Rashid Khan was the player of the match with figures of 2/11 off his 4 overs including a maiden but it was a team effort from the bowlers as each of the six bowlers used chipped in with at least a wicket. Their skipper Angelo Mathews put SRH into bat first in Pune after which Bhuvneshwar Kumar was world-class with the new ball reducing SRH to 17/4 and the decision at the toss definitely looked like the right decision when his side restricted SRH for just 119/8 in 20 overs, which could have been even less if not for Amit Mishra's 30 runs with the bat low in the order. It looked like a regulation chase for Pune Warriors as they were placed right in the hot seat at 4/101 in the 17th over and that is when the Amit Mishra show began. The leg-spinner picked up a hat-trick and eventually finished with 4/19 as the home side dramatically collapsed to lose their last 6 wickets for just seven runs. Opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians got to 120/9 on a sluggish track with Sachin Tendulkar top-scoring for them with 34. Despite Mithun Manhas' unbeaten 42 off 34 in the run chase, it was the masterful death bowling from the player-of-the-match Lasith Malinga which helped MI seal the narrowest win.
