The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is just around the corner! The two sides will meet at Dubai Cricket Stadium on February 23. Team India has won the Champions Trophy two times in 2002 and 2013. Pakistan, on the other hand, won their maiden title in 2017. The tournament is unique because Pakistan is hosting an ICC event after a gap of 29 years. And, the Champions Trophy is returning after eight years! India and Pakistan have been cricket opponents for decades, but they have only faced each other five times in the ICC Champions Trophy. Surprisingly, Pakistan has a slight advantage, having won three matches while India has won two. India batted first but struggled, losing six wickets for just 106 runs by the 34th over. Rahul Dravid (67) and Ajit Agarkar (47) helped India reach 200 before getting all out. Pakistan also had a difficult start as Irfan Pathan took three quick wickets. However, Inzamam-ul-Haq (41) and Mohammad Yousuf (81*) guided Pakistan to victory in 49.2 overs. Pakistan opened their innings and scored 302/9 in 50 overs. Shoaib Malik contributed significantly with 128 runs, supported by Mohammad Yousuf with 87 runs. For India, Ashish Nehra took four wickets. While targeting 303 runs to win, Team India struggled hard and were 54 runs short. Gautam Gambhir scored 57, Rahul Dravid made 76 and Suresh Raina added 46, but it was not enough to secure victory. Indian bowlers performed well under the leadership of then captain MS Dhoni and bowled out Pakistan for only 165 runs in 39.2 overs. Rain turned the tables, and India needed to chase a revised target of just 102 runs in 22 overs. Shikhar Dhawan made 48, and Virat Kohli remained not out with 22 runs. India won by eight wickets and later went on to beat England in the final to lift the Champions Trophy title in that year. Rohit Sharma (91) and Shikhar Dhawan (68) setting the stage with a 136-run stand for the opening wicket. While Virat Kohli scored 81* and Yuvraj Singh made 53 from 32 balls helped India to reach massive 319/3 in 50 overs. While chasing the big target, Pakistan fumbled and got all out for 164 in 33.4 overs. But it did not go in favor of Virat Kohli and his team. Pakistan came out to bat first and played exceptionally well. Fakhar Zaman scored 114 runs, and Azhar Ali scored 59. They helped Pakistan reaching a huge total of 338/4 in 50 overs. Chasing 339, India struggled under pressure. Indian batters got out early, apart from Hardik Pandya, who contributed 76. However, his contribution was in vain. India was dismissed for 158 in 30.3 overs.
