Since it began in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has altered careers of multiple cricketers, some who've gone on to achieve stardom and create records while some have ended up on the list of players with loads of runs and no IPL title. His unique shots like helicopter and backfoot cover drives are a sight to watch but despite his fantastic batting partnership with Virat Kohli, he could not find himself on the winning side of an IPL tournament. In 142 matches he played in the IPL, Chris Gayle smashed 4,965 runs along with 6 centuries. He represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kings XI Punjab. His period at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru alongside Kohli and AB de Villiers was one of the fiercest batting line-ups in IPL history. Unbeaten 175 off 66 balls remains one of the highest individual scores in the IPL but that does not seem to hold enough to grant him the trophy. He has captained the Rajasthan Royals very well but the side has fallen short in crucial matches on many occasions leading to the trophy being out of reach for the keeper-batsman. The dynamic keeper-batter led Delhi Capitals to an IPL final in 2020 but his team could not win the trophy.
