Seasoned campaigner Brendan Taylor is set to return to ODIs after a four-year hiatus for Zimbabwe against Sri Lanka in the forthcoming two-match series at home. He has just served his ban for breaching the ICC's anti-corruption code. Taylor recently returned to international cricket earlier this month, featuring in the second Test against New Zealand. Zimbabwe Convener of Selectors David Mutendera welcomed Taylor's return to the 50-over team. He appeared hopeful that the team welcoming a powerful team of the Lankan Lions on their next tour would provide a stiff competition. Here is what stated Mutendera, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo: "We are delighted to welcome Brendan back into the fold. His experience and quality are invaluable, especially in pressure situations, and his presence will no doubt lift the dressing room. This squad has been selected to give us the best chance against a strong Sri Lankan side. We have combined proven match-winners with players who are hungry to make their mark, and that mix of experience and energy will be crucial as we transition from red-ball cricket to the fast pace of ODIs," Also Read | Duleep Trophy 2025: Schedule, Squads, Venues, Streaming Details At the same time, Zimbabwe coach Justin Sammons was not shy to offer his candid view regarding the team's current international dip in form and their lopsided defeats. He laid emphasis while speaking on the issue of each player being aware of what is required of him to compete neck-to-neck against a well-oiled Sri Lankan machine. The 16-man team will be captained by Craig Ervine. Both of Zimbabwe's games, and subsequently the T20I series will be hosted at the Harare Sports Club. The Chevrons, who last played any 50-over game in February, will see four fresh faces in the likes of Clive Madande, Tony Munyonga, Brad Evans and young and as yet uncapped seamer Ernest Masuku.
