Zaheer Khan joins LSG as its mentor in place of Gautam Gambhir, who parted ways with the team after the IPL 2023. Gambhir has subsequently been signed up by Kolkata Knight Riders as its mentor for IPL 2024 and is also the head coach of the India men's team. It is, however, not yet known whether Zaheer will also take the role of LSG's bowling coach after their previous bowling coach Morne Morkel left the franchise and joined Gambhir's coaching staff with the Indian team. Zaheer Khan has been associated with the Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022. He first held the role of cricket director and later the head of global development. Before that, he had played for three franchises: MI, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Daredevils. His last IPL appearance came in 2017 when he captained Delhi Daredevils, post which he retired from all forms of cricket. Besides being a mentor, LSG would like Zaheer Khan to assume a bigger role that includes working on scouting and player development during the off-season. The coaching staff in LSG will be led by Justin Langer, who replaced Andy Flower as the head coach just ahead of IPL 2024, with Lance Klusener and Adam Voges serving as his assistants.
