Croatia's Zach Vukusic made history on Thursday, August 7, after becoming the youngest international cricket captain. He replaced France's Noman Amjad, who had captained his country for the first time at the age of 18 years and 24 days. Amjad had set the record during France's match against the Czech Republic in July 2022. At the age of 17 years and 311 days, Vukusic captained Croatia in a four-match T20I series against Cyprus at the Mladost Cricket Ground in Zagreb. He is also the first player to captain a team in top-level cricket at the age of 17. When it comes to Test-playing countries, the record is in the name of Rashid Khan, who captained Afghanistan for the first time at 19 years and 165 days.
