India cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh opened up recently on his coaching and mentoring philosophy, much of which can be attributed to his late mentor Bishan Singh Bedi. Known for his fearless performances and winning matches, Yuvraj would often speak about the important role that Bedi had played in his cricket journey. At a special function organized by Bollywood actors Angad Bedi and Neha Dhupia to pay a tribute to the memory of Bedi, Yuvraj spoke about how the lessons of this gentleman player are guiding his mentoring of such young Indian cricketers as Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. His coaching style is influenced, by all means, by what he has learned both on and off the field under the guidance of Bedi. Quotations from his conversation with Indiatoday.in would indicate that he is keen to develop a technical ability in the young boys and as keenly wants to instill other virtues such as discipline, mental toughness, and adaptability, as he was taught them all by Bedi, who points out the virtues of these qualities for success to be achieved in the game of the day. Yuvraj said: "See, all the people I have learned from, whether it is in cricket or life, I try and implement it in my coaching or mentoring. Sir taught me a lot of good things, I implement it. Cricket has changed a lot...Its been 5 years since I have retired. So you have to adapat to what is in demand today." Yuvraj Singh's Emotional Tribute to Bishan Singh Bedi Paying an emotional tribute to his mentor, after Bedi's tragic passing, Yuvraj, in a social media post spoke for the personal aspect where Bedi had become more than a leader for him; he was indeed there through the hardest of times early in his career as a person who guided him beyond the cricket turf. Bedi sir was a mentor to me. At times when I was short of money, he made me focus on training rather than the fees and encouraged me to practice. He, along with my father, made me understand the value of hard work! When he was angry he would say, “Come on son, run!
