He went on to score 161 runs off 297 deliveries including 15 fours and 9 sixes. His opening partnership with KL for 201 runs played a crucial role in India’s 295-run victory over the hosts in Perth. Jaiswal during his 161-run knock, played some fearless cricket. He didn’t back off from any delivery, he took over on the Aussies bowling lineup singlehandedly. Speaking on SEN 1170 The Run Home with Joel and Fletch, Lyon said: "Young Jaiswal, he said that you're a legend, but you're old, he said that to me when I was bowling. He said that to me when he was muscling about at 120, but ya, it's all good fun. Appreciate that, mate, but I don’t feel that old."
