Karun Nair has made headlines with his strong performances in domestic cricket, especially in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and that sparked a hope of his comeback in the Indian team in the Champions Trophy 2025, The white-ball captain of Vidarbha has had an impressive season of VHT, and under his leadership, Vidarbha reached the tournament final for the first time. Karun was the top run-scorer in the tournament and was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament for scoring 779 runs at an incredible average of 389.50, including five centuries and a half-century. However, his magnificent performance was ignored by the selectors as only 15 players are supposed to travel to UAE for the most-awaited Champions Trophy 2025. While speaking on this, Nair said that he was not thinking on making into the Champions Trophy squad but was instead eyeing a return to Test cricket. To Sports Today, Nair told: “If I'm being honest, before the tournament, I wasn't thinking about that. At least for me, it felt quite far away. But like I said, you have dreams, you have thoughts, you want to achieve things. But you're not thinking, 'I'm going to make it.' You think, 'I want to make it.' But whether it will actually happen is always a question mark in your head." He added: “I still have the dream of playing Test cricket for India. I've said it in many interviews. So quite honestly, that was the only thing on my mind. I wasn't even thinking that I'd be mentioned or considered for the Champions Trophy squad, so I feel really grateful for that."
