Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has criticized Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for failing to utilize the experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the correct manner during the IPL 2025 season. Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the five-time IPL champions, had a disappointing stint this season. They are the first team to be eliminated from the playoff contention. They have won two and lost eight out of 10 matches played so far. They are currently placed at the last spot in the points table, and nothing is going their way in this season. Ravichandran Ashwin was acquired by CSK for INR Rs 9.75 crore during the mega auction of IPL 2025. This was expected to be one of the memorable homecomings. However, he played only seven games and picked up five wickets with a poor economy rate of 9.29. In their last match against Punjab Kings, which CSK lost by four wickets, Ashwin was not included in the playing eleven even when the surface was offering assistance to the spinners. Harbhajan Singh was disturbed by this decision, and he criticized the management of Chennai Super Kings for this move. Had Noor Ahmad, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja played together against Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings could have won the match. You did not pay Rs 10 crore for Ashwin to bench him. I do not know why he is not playing, but it seems he might have fought with someone." He stated that though most of the players in the team are performing poorly, only Ashwin was excluded. He believed that the team could have utilized Ashwin more. The former off-spinner added: "He is not the only one who has not performed. Others are still playing despite their ordinary performances, but Ashwin is out of the team. He should have played against Punjab, as the ball was spinning." He is not the only one who has not performed. Others are still playing despite their ordinary performances, but Ashwin is out of the team. He should have played against Punjab, as the ball was spinning Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will next play Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. The last time when these two teams faced each other at Chepauk, RCB defeated CSK. MS Dhoni and Co. will seek revenge of that defeat.
