Ex-Indian cricketer Yograj Singh has criticized the critics of Rohit Sharma and feels that the latter has the class to play up to the age of 45. Rohit has already hung up his boots from T20Is and Tests, so the fact that 50-over cricket is the only format in which he is playing currently holds true. To clarify the significance of the veteran opening bat in the national ODI team, Yograj pointed towards the 76-run match-winning innings Rohit played against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 final. Being capable of playing on the largest platform, Yograj believes that Rohit has the potential to play for another five years in the international cricket. Here is what stated Yograj while speaking to News18's CricketNext: “The man about whom so many people speak rubbish, Rohit Sharma — I said that day that Rohit will be my man, the man, my man. The way he batted (referring to his POTM performance in the 2025 Champions Trophy final), his batting one side and the rest of the team’s batting on the other side. That’s his class. You can say, Rohit, aapki hume paanch saal aur zarurat hai yaar (Rohit, we need you for five more years, man)," Read also: Suryakumar Yadav Cleared for Asia Cup 2025 After Fitness Test The 67-year-old urged Rohit to raise his level of fitness through playing domestic cricket. The former pace bowler, now a coach at his private cricket academy, signed off by issuing a stern rebuke to the media not to pillory a player of the Indian ODI captain's quality. India and Rohit will then face an ODI in their white-ball tour against Australia Down Under. Rohit, who took to the field for the Men in Blue in March, will be expected to play for the team in October this year. If selected, the series' first match will be a gigantic milestone in the career of the Nagpur-born, as it will be his 500th international match.
