Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh has heightened the match-fixing charge against former India captain Kapil Dev and accused him of slamming the file shut. The 1983-World Cup triumph was brought under scanner by the CBI after he, along with others, was accused by Manoj Prabhakaran of requesting him to throw matches. Though the investigation agency exonerated Dev of all allegations in 2000, Yograj has now made a sensational charge. Speaking in an interview with InsideSport, Yograj stated that players like Kapil Dev, Mohammed Azharudeen among others were reportedly accused of being involved in match-fixing. The former Indian cricketer wondered why the case was closed and asserted that it will not be re-opened since a lot of legends' heads would roll. After questioning all those involved in the case extensively, the CBI presented its final report claiming that there was no "credible evidence" of Kapil match fixing. The YV Chandrachud Committee, established by the BCCI to investigate the issue, in its report released in 2000 apparently claimed that "there was no plausible reason why Manoj Prabhakar had to wait 3 to 6 years to report match-fixing allegations." This is not the first time Yograj has attacked Kapil Dev publicly. Earlier, he said that the former Indian captain had treated players shit. He made a daring statement last year by announcing that he had threatened to kill Dev after he was dropped from the Indian team.
