The Indian star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second ODI hundred, guiding India to defeat Afghanistan by 9 wickets within the 29th over. Jaiswal reached his century with a six in the same over before finishing the chase with a boundary and then a six. Jaiswal was not out with 110 runs in 86 balls, hitting 14 boundaries and 3 sixes at a strike rate of over 127. Jaiswal was struggling earlier; however, he received the support he got from the management. Jaiswal was added to the squad after Virat Kohli suffered a hamstring injury and had to miss the series. Chasing that, Jasiwal was rightly supported by Rohit Sharma. Sharma, who was rumored earlier to play his final ODI match today, scored 79 runs in 69 balls, hitting three big sixes and 9 boundaries. However, he missed his deserving century after mistiming Mohammad Nabi's ball. Shreyas Iyer was the surprise man out on the pitch, at number three. The captain, Shubman Gill, who has been number 3 for India for the last two matches, was nowhere to be seen padded up. Shreyas walked out and scored 20 runs with two sixes. With the ball, Nabi got the only wicket, while Ziaur Rahman and Allah Ghazanfar had good runs, having their economies around 5. Shahidi's Century Rescues Afghanistan After Early Collapse Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first. It was Prasidh Krishna who did not let the top order settle, striking five times to leave the visitors reeling at 36/4 inside 10 overs. He removed Rahmanullah Gurbaz (5), Ibrahim Zadran (11), Rahmat Shah (5) and Darwish Rasooli (1), finishing with figures of 5/23 in 8.2 overs. Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi then led the recovery with a fighting 102 off 131 balls, including 13 fours and a six. He found support from Azmatullah Omarzai, who scored 50 from 56 deliveries with five boundaries and two sixes. The duo added 105 runs for the fifth wicket to revive the innings after the early collapse. However, India regained control once Omarzai departed. Mohammad Nabi contributed 21, but the lower order failed to provide support. Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey picked up a wicket each as Afghanistan were bowled out for 218 in 44.2 overs. Shahidi remained the last wicket to fall after carrying the innings almost single-handedly.
