Yashasvi Jaiswal was out of touch. During his first three games for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025, the opener accumulated as many as 34 runs at a strike rate of 106.25 through his blade. The franchise had a lot to worry about, considering skipper Sanju Samson and vice-captain Riyan Parag too have not been firing with the bat. But with his game finding renewal again, Jaiswal was not absolutely at the top at Mullanpur Cricket Stadium against Punjab Kings (PBKS) but came surely at the time when the team badly needed a little swing in the equation. Having set sights at RR, now positioned in ninth on the IPL 2025 points table, for a big effort, though, it was Jaiswal who would have to lead the charge. He achieved his highest peak during the fourth over when he put Marco Jansen under the gun. But once the sixth over had gone, his rate grew slower and slower. He managed to score just 18 runs from his next 18 balls, thereby completing his fifty in 40 balls. He blasted 17 runs from the next four balls at an astounding strike rate of 4.25 per ball. If anybody looked like turning the tide for RR then, it was Jaiswal, only to be undone by Lockie Ferguson, who rattled the off stump. Jaiswal and RR would be glad for this 67 off 45 balls, given his recent poor run; had he batted longer, he may well have turned the match on its head. Now that Venkatesh is nearing top form, opposition teams will be alert to the menace he offers.
