Yash Dayal kept his cool and dismissed of MS Dhoni in the final over of the match IPL 2024 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18, 2024. It was an important game for RCB, led by Faf du Plessis to have a stake in survival for the playoffs. With that courtesy of Dayal's performance, RCB won the match and entered the knockout phase. During an interaction with Jatin Sapru, Yash said: "I felt bad after dismissing him. Because I don’t know or care what people say but the frustration with which he left the ground, it was like you don’t know whether he will return or not. Will we ever see him again on the ground? It was a moment where a lot of things were going through my head. I got a breather, a bit of relief." The last over of the match saw Dhoni hit a huge six on its first ball. It was 11 off five balls for CSK. Dhoni got caught out on a slower ball by Dayal, securing the win for RCB. Dayal recently shared his thoughts after Dhoni's dismissal and said he was a little sad too while getting the experience of dismissing MS Dhoni in his over. He also mentioned that, after the six, he wanted to bowl a yorker but Virat Kohli suggested him to bowl slower one, which had succeeded for RCB and won them the match. Dayal added: "He (Kohli) was like ‘Try the slower ball because if you give him pace then you won’t need to see where the ball has landed. It will always be a six’. That’s when I realised that I can’t give him speed, or else I’ll get smashed again. Taking the pace off was going to be my best option."
