Left-arm seamer Yash Dayal has shared how Virat Kohli played a key role in his return to the team for the 2024 IPL season. After a tough 2023 with the Gujarat Titans, where he was dismissed after conceding five consecutive sixes to Rinku Singh, Dayal was released by the team. However, he got a fresh opportunity with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for ₹5 crore, giving him a chance to show his skills. Yash Dayal stated, “The biggest thing he (Kohli) said to me was that he will back me the whole season. He told me that I will not feel like I have come to a new place, and he backed me completely. So this was a huge boost up, and he talks to the youngsters in such a very healthy way, and he is nothing like what people talk about on TV. I don't feel like that.” This new confidence was reflected in the 2024 season, when he emerged as a major bowler for RCB by picking up 15 wickets in 14 matches at the economy rate of 9.14, which. His performance was key in getting RCB to the playoffs, and proved to everyone that he can perform well even under pressure. Dayal will be all set to play for Team B in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024/25 and will take all those good performances in the IPL into the national team. He will be accompanied by RCB colleague, Mohammed Siraj, which itself will add to the motivation to do well on this bigger platform. Recently, Virat Kohli has completed his 16 years in international cricket. Jay Shah, Secretary of the BCCI, took to Twitter and congratulated Kohli and stated that Kohli has been a game-changer in Indian cricket.
