Mumbai Indians have appointed Under-19 World Cup champion Parunika Sisodia as a replacement for the experienced Pooja Vastrakar for the new season of the Women's Premier League. Pooja was recently left out with a knee injury that has kept her away from cricket since October 2024. Sisodia was among the star performers of India Women U19 in their latest title-winning season. The left-arm spinner with 10 wickets in six matches, being one of several key elements in the winning team. Interestingly, she was signed by Gujarat Giants Women in the first season of the league, but now has been recruited by MI-W at a price of INR 10 lakh. Meanwhile, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have roped in Madhya Pradesh-born wicket-keeper batter Nuzhat Parween as a replacement for injured player Asha Sobhana. Parween has played five T20Is so far. She will turn up for RCB-W for her reserve price of INR 30 lakh. Sobhana was last seen in the Women's T20 World Cup in October 2024, and has been recovering from her injury since then. In addition to Sobhana, Shreyanka Patil is also a questionable starter after a prolonged rehabilitation period for a shin problem. The two did not play India's home season as well as their three-match ODI tour Down Under. The curtain-raiser of the WPL 2025 will feature the Giants going up against the Bengaluru-based side at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
