Mumbai Indians (MI) won a thrilling women's Premier League 2025 final in a close 8-run victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Brabourne Stadium on Saturday, March 15. The closely contested match saw Mumbai hold onto a fighting score of 149/7, claiming their second title with a clinical bowling effort. Having been sent in to bat first, Mumbai Indians struggled in the early stages themselves, losing both Yastika Bhatia (8 from 14) and Hayley Matthews (3 from 10) for cheap. But the veteran Natalie Sciver-Brunt (30 from 28) stabilized the innings with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who played a captain's innings. Kaur's fiery 66 from 44 deliveries, studded with 9 fours and 2 sixes, gave the much-needed thrust to Mumbai,. Amanjot Kaur's late input (14 off 7) and that of G Kamalini (10 off 7) took the team's total to 149/7 in 20 overs. Marizanne Kapp was the pick of Delhi Capitals bowlers, bowling a miserly 2/11 in her 4 overs. Jess Jonassen (2/26) and NR-Shree Charani (2/43) were also among the wickets, limiting Mumbai to a chaseable total. Jemimah Rodrigues (30 off 21) looked promising, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, keeping the middle order under pressure. Kapp once again proved to be the Delhi game-changer, battling hard with a counter-attacking 40 off 26 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Niki Prasad's calm 25 not out off 23 balls kept the chase going, but Mumbai bowlers refused to give up the death overs. Natalie Sciver also played with the ball, taking 3/30 off 4 overs, while Amelia Kerr (2/25) and Shabnim Ismail (1/15) saw to it that Mumbai had the game in their hands. Saika Ishaque and Matthews also took important wickets to keep Delhi Capitals at 141/9, securing the win for Mumbai by 8 runs.
