Australian captain Alyssa Healy underwent serious training on Tuesday, October 28, two days before Australia's ICC Women's World Cup 2025 semi-final match against India. Healy had injured her calf in a training session prior to the match against England last week and was required to sit out Australia's last two group games. Healy provided positive indications of recovery during training in Mumbai on Thursday, passing a fitness test at the beginning of the session. She then went through wicketkeeping drills before progressing to a full net session, for which she was in good touch, assertively engaging the bowlers in the latter part. After the win against South Africa in Indore, Australia head coach Shelly Nitschke was also hopeful of Healy regaining full fitness ahead of the knockout encounter. Her possible comeback for the high-pressure semi-final will prove a huge boost for the champion team. Healy's most impressive performance of the tournament came, as it happens, against India, Australia's future semi-final rivals. She hit a stunning 142 off 107, featuring 21 fours and three sixes, to propel Australia to a record win against India. In her absence, Tahlia McGrath had captained the side well, steering them through the latter part of the group stage. But the return of skipper Healy before the semi-final at Navi Mumbai on Thursday will be a major boost for the defending champions who are seeking another title opportunity.
