The India cricket team has really dominated Sri Lanka on their home turf. In the first three matches, they chased down targets before the 15th over even came to a close. By the fourth match, they set a new record for their highest-ever T20I total, scoring 221 runs. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur struggled a bit in those initial games, and Jemimah Rodrigues had a rough outing in the third match. Still, India only lost a total of 7 wickets across all three games. In that fourth match, while racking up 221 runs, they lost just 2 wickets, marking their highest T20I score. Their average stands at an impressive 65.22 runs per wicket. It’s been a dream run for the Indian batters, with Sri Lanka not posing much of a challenge. Richa Ghosh, arguably India’s most explosive batter, has faced just 17 balls so far. But when she got her chance in the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka, she made it count, scoring 40 runs off just 16 deliveries. Looking ahead to the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England, the conditions will be a whole different ball game. That’s something we all know. The competition will be fierce, which is something India hasn’t really encountered yet. Sri Lanka has pretty much rolled over, and while we’ve focused on their bowling, their batting hasn’t been up to par either. Bowling: Faced a single real test The visitors have lost a staggering 28 wickets across four matches, with scores of 6, 9, 7, and 6. That’s a far cry from India’s 9. Their batting average per wicket stands at 19.71, while India boasts a solid 65.22. This really highlights how poorly Sri Lanka has performed with the bat. Even though no Indian bowler has taken more than 4 wickets in the series, the visitors have still found it tough going. Sri Lanka hasn’t even managed to get all out once. Their batters lack the T20 firepower that the top teams possess. In their first three games, they scored 121, 128, and 112, which clearly shows they’re not pushing hard enough. When teams find themselves behind, they usually go all out; it’s something Sri Lanka just hasn’t embraced. Sree Charani and Arundhati Reddy haven’t quite hit their stride, despite playing 7 games between them. Yet, Sri Lanka hasn’t really made a mark against the Indians. In the fourth T20I, they did manage to score 191, which is their highest total in this format. In a way, they tested India a little, but it feels like it’s come a bit too late.
