Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan has admitted that the team’s underwhelming performance in IPL 2025 has left the fans disappointed. However, speaking at the TNSJA Awards ceremony in Chennai on Tuesday (April 22), the long-time CSK official struck an optimistic tone, expressing faith in the squad’s ability to bounce back under MS Dhoni’s leadership. The five-time champions have endured a rough season so far, losing six out of their first eight games and sitting at the bottom of the table. A lack of intent with both bat and ball has hurt their campaign, with inconsistent selections and key injuries adding fuel to the fire. CSK's latest loss came against Mumbai Indians, who chased down CSK’s 176-run total in just 15.2 overs, dealing a major dent to their Net Run Rate. While Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury has disrupted the team’s plans, it has brought MS Dhoni back into the leadership role. CSK have yet to find a consistent combination, especially with the ball. Their batting unit has also failed to fire collectively, with pressure falling on the likes of Shivam Dube and Dhoni to finish games in the later overs. Kasi Vishwanathan, however, remains hopeful: "All of you will be a little bit disappointed with the performance of CSK this year. Of course, it's bound to happen. We have had earlier also. We know that we are not playing good cricket as of now. But, we hope that in the coming matches, we should be able to do better. We have got someone of the calibre of Shivam Dube here. He has been doing so well over the years. And with someone like Thala being at the helm, it’s only a question of time before we come back." He also recalled CSK’s stunning comeback in IPL 2010: "Of course, we remember the year 2010. We lost five games in a row and went on to win the cup. That was the first year we won the title. I am sure the boys are committed. The team is committed. I am sure we will come up with better performances in the upcoming matches."
