The ultimate showdown. On June 3, in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will fight for the Indian Premier League title. Very little were the expectations of either team making it to the finals as IPL 2025 began. But here they stand, a victory away. The team that is able to hold its nerves through the pressure and rise above the aura of a final shall be declared the winner. This is not just another IPL final; it is an opportunity to create history. RCB and PBKS are two among the three original IPL franchises that have never won the title. One team shall be free from its 18-year-long wait. Virat Kohli’s IPL Dream: But then, cricket remains about individual stories. All eyes remain on the big man for RCB, Virat Kohli. The ex-captain and the franchise icon has played every single year since the inception of the tournament, but the greater glory has escaped him all the time. Since then, he has gone on to win the 2025 Champions Trophy but was still not in the Test squad for the England series in spite of consistent good form. Now, he wants to shut down those critics and remind KKR about the gem they let slip. He has taken PBKS to the finals and has thus become the only captain to take three different teams to the finals. Another milestone awaits if he wins the title with PBKS-the first one to win it with two franchises.
