The Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to make a comeback in the upcoming India vs South Africa ODI series starting this November, on the 30th at Ranchi. Currently, he is recovering from a spleen injury he sustained on October 25, while landing awkwardly to catch Alex Carey's ball of Harshit Rana in the third ODI against Australia. He was admitted to a hospital in Sydney, where he stayed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) initially before being shifted to the general ward. He even posted a photo of him chilling with his friend in Sydney. He thanked his fans and well-wishers for his speedy recovery. However, his comeback in international cricket is uncertain. Shreyas was made the vice captain of the ODI squad during the Australia series, which eventually cursed him with the spleen injury. After the Australia series, India is assigned the South Africa Series, followed by the one against New Zealand. Despite Shreyas' speedy recovery, the management is not rushing him to be on the field. According to a report from the India Express on November 11. Shreyas will need more time to recover and be fully fit to be on the field.
