Punjab Kings wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma recently said that if he is not retained by his present team for the IPL 2025 edition, then he would love to play for either Chennai Super Kings or Mumbai Indians. Jitesh was bought by PBKS for INR 20 lakhs in the 2022 IPL auction. He has not disappointed so far since his debut in the IPL, having scored 730 runs in 40 games with a strike rate of 151.14. His breakout season was, however, the 2022 season where he had 234 runs at a strike rate of 163.64, with the next season adding another 309 runs at 156.06 to end up in the Indian T20I squad. Jitesh made his T20I debut for India in the 2023 Asian Games Men's Cricket Competition against Nepal. If I am in their plans, they will retain me; otherwise, they won’t because I have not received any communication yet from Punjab Kings. If you ask me personally then I would prefer to play for CSK or MI." He added: “I have experienced the MI atmosphere, and I love Wankhede because, as a Maharashtrian, it has always been close to my heart. During my younger days, I watched matches at Wankhede and sat outside, feeling the vibe. I want to experience that feeling while playing inside the stadium for Mumbai Indians.” Jitesh said it was always his dream to play for CSK since he is an ardent fan of MS Dhoni and has a connection with Ruturaj Gaikwad, to name a couple of reasons. He also has an association with MI since he was in the team for both 2016 and 2017 but never got a game. He further added: “I would like to play for Chennai Super Kings because of Mahi bhai and because Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK captain) is my good friend and I enjoy playing under him the same way I enjoy playing under Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) bhai."
