The Australian Test captain Pat Cummins, who is currently overcoming his lumbar stress injury, is still hoping to play all five Tests in the 2025 Ashes at home. Cummins has been exposed to the media thrice in the last fifteen days, with the final one today. The event was regarding climate control in Australia, where the government announced $50 million for sporting clubs to fight climate change. While Cummins was asked about his availability, he did not provide much about his injury and felt that it's too early to come to a conclusion. A few days back, Australia's head coach, Andrew McDonald, noted that Cummins might not play all five, the pacer aims to do the exact opposite. Speaking to the media, he said, "The aim is five. Every summer you kind of aim for five.Once we get closer, we're probably going to chat through potentially more realistic situations. It's honestly too far out to say, but the aim at the moment is to try and be ready for all of it." However, he admitted that Australia is unlikely to use the same set of bowlers for the entire summer. He said, "Most years, at least one of the bowlers normally goes down. Joshy (Hazlewood) missed the back half last year. Obviously conditions change, but I think that you just need that fresh bowler, guys that can come in and bowl 40 overs without really blinking in a Test match." Rather, he has bowled more overs at the nets and can simply get into the Test turf without a domestic outing. Pat said, "I don't think it's vital. If you'd asked me 10 years ago, I would have said I really feel like in myself I need to play games. Now it's centre wickets, net sessions, I've bowled a lot more overs. I feel like I can kind of get up to Test level pretty quickly. I won't go into a Test where I feel like I can break down or whatever."
