Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar has an intriguing proposal regarding Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025 about Rishabh Pant. Bangar thinks allowing Pant to unleash his natural fluency would be the best option by letting him play in the upper order. “And free up Rishabh Pant. Rishabh, as a batter, in the longer format has shown he is a far better player against quality pace too. He has a reputation of hitting against spin. He has done well against pace. So utilise him at the top of the order,” Banger stated. Pant has just been appointed LSG captain, and in a heartbreaking one-wicket loss on March 24, 2023, at the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, LSG fell prey to Delhi Capitals (DC). Pant underperformed. He was out for a six-ball duck courtesy of Kuldeep Yadav and missed a vital stumping of the final over of DC's run chase. On Thursday, the LSG is to face a high-scoring opponent, SRH, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, so it requires a balanced team for its success. “I always believed that in the white-ball format, the best position for him is at the top. Let him open the innings. Drop Markram and get Shamar Joseph. The middle-order is unchanged as far as overseas batters are concerned,” Sanjay Banger also added. In 21 T20 matches as an opener, Rishabh Pant has managed to make 644 runs at an average of 32.20. His best score in white-ball cricket while opening the innings is 116* not out against Himachal in 2018.
