After Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders, MS Dhoni discussed his cricket future. Questioned whether he is retiring in the near future, Dhoni replied that he hasn't thought anything through yet. For the last several IPL seasons, fans have been speculating on when Dhoni will retire. This season, too, has been no exception. On Wednesday, Dhoni received a big welcome at Eden Gardens. Plenty of fans donned yellow CSK jerseys and cheered for him. After the match, speaking to the press, Dhoni thanked the people for their love and said the majority of them don't know whether this is his last season or not. CSK skipper said: "I think that's the love and affection I have got from the fans. Not to forget, I am 43 so I have played for a long time (chuckles). I feel most of them don't really know when it will be my last year so they want to support me, watch me play." When asked again for his retirement plans, Dhoni explained that he would have to work for the next six to eight months following the IPL. He wishes to test whether his body can still absorb the pressure of the game. Dhoni said: "It's a two-month period and after that I need to work hard for another 6-8 months and see if the body will be able to take the pressure or not. Nothing for me to decide as of now." MS Dhoni asserted that the team did lots of things right during the evening. He added that their objective is to perform well now and make themselves ready for the following season. MS Dhoni said: "It's good to be on the winning side you know. We got a lot of things correct tonight and I can obviously get emotional about it because of the pride factor. I felt that what was important is that, we wanted to be practical about it. We wanted to fill in the 25 players in the squad. We want to be more competitive but also want to look into the next year. We also want to look into the right combinations, which bowler can bowl which overs according to the conditions. The batting order was not right earlier but now the intent is really good in the batters." Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 12 at Chepauk for their subsequent game. This will be their last home game this season and they will look to win it in front of their home crowd.
