Former India cricketer and coach Yograj Singh has criticized Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's performances in Test cricket. He claimed that if given the opportunity to coach the Indian team, he could transform them into an unbeatable force. India recently faced a 0-3 series loss to New Zealand at home, followed by a 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Both Sharma and Kohli endured a disappointing red-ball season. Rohit Sharma even opted out of the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to his poor form, but India still went on to lose the series. The Indian captain managed only 164 runs in eight Tests this season, averaging 10.93. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli scored 382 runs across 10 Tests at an average of 22. "If you make me the coach of the Indian team, I will transform this side into an unbeatable force with the same players. Who will unlock their full potential? People are always quick to call for their exclusion—drop Rohit Sharma, drop Kohli—but why?" Yograj Singh said in an interview. 'I would be like a father to them': Yograj Singh Yograj Singh further stated that instead of dropping players, he would support them through their rough patches. He suggested making them play domestic cricket or putting them through rigorous training sessions to regain form. "They are going through a rough patch, and I want to tell my boys that I stand with them. I would tell them: let's play Ranji Trophy, or I'll make Rohit run 20 km. Nobody does that. These players are diamonds—you don't just discard them. I would be like a father to them. I have never differentiated between Yuvraj and the others, not even Dhoni. But what is wrong is wrong," he added. Following the IPL, India will tour England for a five-match Test series starting on June 20. It remains to be seen if the BCCI will consider both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the series. Reports suggest that Rohit Sharma is likely to opt out of the Test series, while Virat Kohli is expected to continue playing. His performances will be closely monitored by selectors.
