Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended for a week as tensions between Pakistan and India are running high. The move comes after the last night cancellation of the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings due to safety reasons. The IPL 2025 has been suspended after having talks with the government and the stakeholders. The decision displays BCCI's concern for the safety of the Indian citizens as well as the overseas players and travellers who are in India to participate in this league. BCCI VP's Statement on IPL 2025 Resumption The big question now is if IPL 2025 will go on. Under the current circumstances, it's not safe to proceed with the tournament unless the situation changes. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking to resume the event in a week, but this will be based on the circumstances. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla stated that the situation would be considered seriously. They would hold off until approval is given by the Indian government before any moves regarding the tournament's future. Rajeev Shukla told PTI: "The BCCI has decided to suspend the IPL for a week with immediate effect. After a week, the situation will be analysed, and the government and stakeholders’ views will be asked, following which the new schedule will be announced." The fans were promptly informed of the abandonment and asked to vacate the stadium. The two teams were escorted back to their hotels. In reaction to the situation, the BCCI organized a special Vande Bharat train to transport the players of Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, as well as the entire broadcast team from Dharamshala to Delhi.
