Even though India seems to have serious problems with Pakistan, they seem to meet the country in every cricket tournament they are playing. Whatever the reason might be, the handshake drama seems to not have an end to it. Notably, the handshake drama has entered the Under-19 Men's World Cup, where India will be facing Pakistan in the Group A matches. India will face Pakistan this Sunday at ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. And as per reports, BCCI is sticking to the no handshake policy. Notably, the ICC is really not in support of dragging politics into the Under-19 tournament. After all, the council has witnessed the nasty side of this in the 2025 Men's Asia Cup of the senior team. According to a report of PTI, ICC has requested to not diffuse sport with politics. However, BCCI is yet to say a word. It is said that the board will have a word with the U-19 team manager, Anand Datar, who has been instructed to follow all specific guidelines given by the board. The report further said that the match referee will be notified beforehand of whatever decisions India will take. A BCCI agency said, as quoted by PTI, "The boys haven't been told anything. But obviously BCCI has given explicit instructions to its manager Anand Datar. Now if Indian boys don't shake hands with Pakistan team then match referee will have to be informed in advance. We know for a fact that ICC doesn't want politics to take front seat when it comes to junior cricket. So it is a case of both bad optics and public sentiment." The handshake saga started with the 2025 Asia Cup with several players undergoing fines and bans after behaving indecently. Even the match referee, Andy Pycroft, had to attend a hearing after India withdrew to shake hands with Pakistan.
