The Asia Cup 2025, which is to be organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is making headlines now because of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan. The official schedule for the tournament has not been announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) yet despite it being likely to take place in September 2025. A number of reports indicates that, the Asia Cup sponsors and media partners are becoming increasingly anxious over the delay. They are urging the ACC to convene an emergency meeting with the BCCI at the earliest to finalize the dates for the tournament. These firms are worried about potential loss of revenue and audience if the tournament arrangements are not completed promptly. The ACC, in the letter, has stated that several sponsors and media associations are concerned about why no schedule has been announced yet. They recommended that the BCCI organize a meeting during the first week of July and decide on the schedule. The postponement follows recent security issues. Last April, a terror attack in Pahalgam stirred serious doubts over hosting such a large event in terms of safety. Things took a turn for the worse when India launched Operation Sindoor in May, heightening tension between the two nations. There were even discussions in India regarding boycotting Pakistan in international events. As India and Pakistan don't play any bilateral cricket series, such situations typically impact major events. It is also stated in some reports that India's potential boycott of Pakistan can be discussed in the next meeting of the ICC. However, this letter from the ACC shows that planning is still going on. It is not yet clear whether India will host the Asia Cup or if the entire event will be shifted to a neutral venue. The last time India and Pakistan met was in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai, where India won the match easily by six wickets under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
