Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming has given a tiny hint regarding whether Dewald Brevis would play for them in their upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The young South African batter, who is popularly referred to as "Baby AB," was newly added to the CSK team as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh. However, Chennai Super Kings did not name Brevis in their playing XI in their recent match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Prior to their match against SRH, Fleming addressed a media conference and expressed the possibility that Brevis can be employed as an "impact player" for the match. It should be mentioned that in recent matches, CSK started to give opportunity to young players more. Such a shift follows criticism that has been made previously to the team for overdependent usage of players of older generations during the initial half of IPL 2025. We’ve got other players as well who have been with us for the whole tournament. Brevis is a good addition to the squad, but we just have to manage what we think would be the best team, given the players that have been working away with us, and also look at the impact that Brevis can have." So far this season, the batting of CSK has been one of the poorest in the league. With the addition of a hard-hitting batter such as Brevis, their batting unit might gain strength and power. Brevis has been in excellent form in recent times. In the SA20 2025 league, in which he played for MI Cape Town, he accumulated 291 runs. He posted a good average of 48.50 and a fantastic strike rate of 184.18. With CSK struggling with the bat, fans will be hoping to see Brevis in action soon. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are placed at the bottom of the table and this match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is a do-or-die match for them. Keeping the surface in consideration, Brevis can play a huge role in CSK's struggling batting line-up.
