The 2026 Pakistan Super League is just a few days away, starting on March 26. While Pakistan batted long for Bangladesh during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, Bangladesh may not return the favor in the PSL. There are certain possibilities for the participating Bangladeshi players to not travel to Pakistan for PSL due to security concerns. However, Bangladesh is the first team to discuss security during PSL, while other players simply quit it after securing lucrative offers in IPL. On Sunday, the Bangladesh State Minister for Youth and Sports, Animul Haque, confirmed that the players have received the No Objection Certificate from the board. However, the ongoing military tensions in Pakistan is making the board rethink it. Haque clearly said that in case of any security issues, he is not going to throw the players in the fire. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Haque said, “Definitely our cricketers are not going if there is a security concern (in PSL). First, BCB has to inform us about it (security concern) and afterwards we will take an official decision based upon our observation (following scrutiny from national agencies)." Haque clarified that they won't resist the players from participating, but BCB has to ensure them. He said, “If the BCB ensures us that there is no problem if our cricketers go there, in that case we don’t have any problem. They (BCB) have to ensure what the players want because we don’t want to discourage sports and we want everyone to play from their respective places." He added, “The BCB should consult us about security purposes and everything, and if they can ensure that (everything is fine), in that case we can proceed." Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that the Pakistan Super League will be played behind closed doors without fans. Later, on Sunday, the PCB chairman clarified that the scarcity of fuel due to the ongoing war in the Middle East is the main reason behind this. He even clarified that the tournament will be held in Lahore and Karachi even though six venues were initially spotted. However, behind the scenes, there is a warlike tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan too, which might be an issue behind the tight security. Meanwhile, six Bangaldeshi players have sealed deals in the PSL 2026. There are, Mustafizur Rahman (Lahore Qalandars), Parvez Hossain Emon (Lahore Qalandars), Shoriful Islam (Peshawar Zalmi), Nahid Rana (Peshawar Zalmi), Tanzid Hasan Tamim (Peshawar Zalmi), and Rishad Hossain (Peshawar Zalmi). Due to players frequently quitting PSL to join IPL, Naqvi also threatened to impose punishments on players. It is to see what he does to the Bangladeshi players if they really skip the league.
