India played their second T20I match in T20 World Cup 2026 match against Namibia without their opener Abhishek Sharma. The left-handed batter is battling a stomach infection and even had to spend a night in the hospital. In India’s opening match against USA, he was dismissed for a golden duck. Reports later said that he was playing with a high fever during that game. He also did not take the field in the second innings, which showed that he was not fully fit. Abhishek was replaced at the top of the order by Sanju Samson during the match against Namibia. Samson gave India a quick start and scored 22 runs off just 8 balls. However, he could not carry on and was dismissed early. If Abhishek misses the Pakistan game, Samson is likely to open again alongside Ishan Kishan. The team will hope that Abhishek recovers quickly, as his aggressive batting at the top can give India strong starts. Fans will monitor his fitness progress until the Pakistan match begins.
