The A+ category had offered them INR 7 crores each. After the AGM meeting on December 22, if they get demoted, they will be given INR 5 crores each, which means a pay cut of 2 crores. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli reclaimed top 2 spots The former Indian captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been experiencing their peak form in the only format they are playing—ODI. After retiring from the other two formats, Ro-Ko had a long gap before touring to Australia. Rohit Sharma was awarded the Player of the series, despite losing it by 1-2 to Australia. Coming back to India, Virat Kohli dominated with two back-to-back centuries and a half-century in the third. In 2025, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli amassed 650 and 651 runs in ODI cricket, respectively, being the leading run scorers for India in this format. With this, Rohit Sharma reclaimed his top spot with 781 points, with Virat Kohli following him with 773 runs. Shubman Gill holds the fifth spot with 723 points, while Shreyas Iyer experienced a demotion to number 10 from 9. KL Rahil on the other hand experienced a two block jimp to 12. Notably, before the South Africa series, Kohli was at the fourth spot. He scored over 300 runs in the series to jump to the second spot. Had he scored 50 more, he would have overtaken Rohit Sharma, as the number 1 ODI batter, something he hasn't achieved since 2021.
