Delhi Capitals pacer Mukesh Kumar has been fined 10% of his match fee. This was after his team, Delhi Capitals (DC), lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) in a crucial game. The defeat saw DC fail to reach the playoffs for IPL 2025. Mukesh was penalized for violating a rule of the match. He has done a Level 1 offence against Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This rule is regarding the "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match." This implies he did something inappropriate such as hitting or destroying cricket equipment or something on the ground. The match referee Daniel Manohar imposed the penalty, and Mukesh accepted it. In that match, Mukesh bowled poorly. He had a bad day with the ball as he conceded as many as 48 runs in four overs taking two wickets. During his spell, he was hit for five fours and three sixes. His worst came at a very untimely moment for DC. It was during the 19th over of the first innings. Delhi Capitals were all over MI before the over. However, in that single over alone, Mukesh conceded 27 runs which completely shifted the momentum towards Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir punished Mukesh with big shots and took MI to a good total of 180 runs. That over was as big as this: 6, 1, 4, 6, 6, 4. Even then, though, DC failed to perform well in the chase. They were all out for only 121 runs, handing 59 runs victory to MI. Just two players from Delhi Capitals managed to score over 20 runs. Both uncapped Indian players, Sameer Rizvi and Vipraj Nigam scored 39 runs and 20 runs respectively. The others could not score much. Mumbai Indians bowlers were very too good on the other side. The best two bowlers among them were Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah. They both bowled very tight and accurate spells. The duo of Santner and Bumrah bowled 44 balls in combination and conceded just 23 runs. They took three crucial wickets each, helping MI to shatter DC's batting line-up and secure a win comfortably. Mukesh Kumar has played 11 matches so far in this season, in which he has picked up 11 wickets and has conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.11. His average per wicket is 32.63, which implies that he concedes 32.63 runs per wicket. This game was not just unfavorable for Mukesh Kumar, but for the whole Delhi Capitals team as well. Their lackluster performance deprived them of a slot in the IPL 2025 playoffs.
