There seems to be an unexpected delay in the India-South Africa 4th T20I due to the thick foggy conditions prevailing in the city of Lucknow. The match was to begin at 7:00 PM IST with the toss taking place at 6:30 PM IST, but the foggy conditions have led to the rescheduling of the match, with the first inspection of the ground took place at around 6:50 PM IST, followed by the second one to be conducted at 07:30 PM IST. Thick Fog Raises Serious Visibility Problems According to a report by Cricbuzz, it is so dense at Ekana Stadium that it is not possible to see the stands from the ground. “We won’t be carrying out our tasks until the visibility is better,” said the umpires and officials of the match. This is not the first instance of the winter fog making things difficult for Lucknow, but the level of severity that is being seen has come as a surprise. There are serious apprehensions that the match might be cancelled before the ball is even bowled. Inspection to Decide Match Fate The umpires will carry out an inspection to ascertain the levels of visibility at 7:30 PM IST. It is only after the inspection that they will decide whether they can start the play on schedule, whether they need to cut overs short, or whether they need to abandon the match. This has left the attendees in the stadium and those at home waiting for an update. In fact, fans have already congregated early, but due to the heavy fog, everybody is waiting until after the inspection is done.
