India's build-up to the second unofficial Test against Australia A has been derailed as captain Shreyas Iyer won't play in the game. The middle-order batter has gone on a break and has headed back to Mumbai, as per Times of India's report. The four-day match commences on Tuesday in Lucknow, and no cover player will be appointed in his place. Dhruv Jurel to Lead in Iyer's Absence With Iyer's departure, Dhruv Jurel will lead the team. The wicket-keeper batter was previously the vice-captain of the team. Confirming the news, a source informed TOI: "Yes, Shreyas is taking a break and has returned to Mumbai. He has informed the selectors that he won’t be able to play in the second four-day match against Australia A. However, he remains in fray for a spot in the middle-order when the selectors meet to pick the squad for the West Indies series." Iyer is in the running for a spot in India's Test side for the two-match series against the West Indies, which commences October 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. There have been reports that the lbw decision was a bad one since the ball seemed to be going past leg stump. Previously, in the Duleep Trophy semi-final, Iyer's scores of 25 and 12 for West Zone left many thinking if he is in form or not. But Iyer proved his mettle earlier. He was India's leading run-scorer in the ODI Champions Trophy tournament this year, making 243 runs off five matches at 48.60 per game with two half-centuries. Still, he was left out of India's lineup for the current Asia Cup. Team Updates: Siraj in, Nitish Reddy Still Out At the same time, India A has made a single change in bowling for the second Test. Mohammed Siraj will come in place of Khaleel Ahmed in the playing XI.
