The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season was a disappointing one for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The fans had high hopes from the team after they had won the trophy in 2024. But the previous season, KKR won only 5 out of 14 matches and ranked eighth on the points table. For a team that was last year's champion, this slide was hard to digest. One of the main reasons behind the collapse was leadership transition. KKR had let go of Gautam Gambhir, their veteran who played a key part in their success in 2024 and signed Dwayne Bravo as a mentor to the team. Fortune did not favor Bravo's stint in that it did not record much success. Fans Disappointed with Bravo's Role, Trends 'Sack Bravo from KKR' As poor performances piled up, the fans turned on Dwayne Bravo on social media. On X (Twitter), the hashtag "Sack Bravo From KKR" became trending. The fans believed that the team had lost its way since Bravo came in. They also pointed out how the team fared poorly in other tournaments like ILT20 and MLC. Their pre-2025 season decisions also caused some unease. Axing Shreyas Iyer, one of their key players in 2024, did not pay off. Their IPL 2025 auction strategy also failed, and the side was not well balanced throughout the season. To add to the controversy, head coach Chandrakant Pandit also quit. There's tinder to the fire. There's a picture of Bravo smiling in the dugout during a match when his team was losing. Fans have even gone so far as to accuse him of remaining loyal to Chennai Super Kings, his previous team where he spent most of his IPL life.
