On December 24, 2025, and 2026, Indian cricket fans will witness a domestic return for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). While Rohit will be playing for Mumbai, Kohli will be representing Delhi. In contrast, beyond all this, the fans would not be able to see the matches played by these superstars, as no live television broadcast or online streaming is planned. Disappointment is obvious among many fans, especially with such big names involved. Here is a clear explanation of why the matches will go unseen and what expectations from the fans will be moving forward. Rohit and Kohli Set for Domestic Return Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are all set to play the first 2 group matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for their respective teams. On December 24, Mumbai will be playing against Sikkim at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, while Delhi will be playing against Andhra Pradesh at the Centre of Excellence (COE). On December 26, Mumbai is all set to play Uttarakhand at Anantham Stadium and will face Delhi against Gujarat at the COE. Adding more stardom to the matches is Rishabh Pant, who'll also play for and captain Delhi in these two matches. Also Read | How many matches will Rohit Sharma play in the 2025-26 VHT? Why There is No Telecast or Live Streaming The biggest reason for not having a telecast is the size of the tournament itself, as the Vijay Hazare Trophy is huge, with all 38 teams competing in an extremely crowded group stage of matchdays, with 19 matches running concurrently each day. Due to logistics and cost, the BCCI telecasts only selected matches, as happens with the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Broadcast facilities for the just two venues have been set up for the season, and they are: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot Only matches played at these venues will be telecasted. Games held at secondary grounds or other cities do not get broadcast coverage. Why Matches of Mumbai and Delhi Are Not Telecasted The matches of Mumbai are being played in Jaipur while the fixtures of Delhi are based in Bengaluru far away from designated broadcasting venues. Consequently, the matches involving Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not going to be live telecasted or streamed. Thus, unless the BCCI decides to change its mind overnight, the fans have to be dependent only for live score updates and highlights. Matches That Will be Telecasted Here are the matches confirmed for the telecast: Ahmedabad Dec 24: Puducherry vs Tamil Nadu Dec 26: Jharkhand vs Rajasthan Dec 29: Kerala vs Madhya Pradesh Dec 31: Jharkhand vs Tamil Nadu Jan 03: Karnataka vs Tripura Jan 06: Kerala vs Puducherry Jan 08: Karnataka vs Madhya Pradesh Rajkot Dec 24: Hyderabad vs Uttar Pradesh Dec 26: Assam vs Jammu & Kashmir Dec 29: Bengal vs Chandigarh Dec 31: Assam vs Uttar Pradesh Jan 03: Baroda vs Vidarbha Jan 06: Bengal vs Hyderabad Jan 08: Baroda vs Chandigarh Also Read | 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy: Match, schedule, squad and live streaming details Can BCCI Change its Decision? Although the chances of this is slim, there is a chance for BCCI to change its decision. Earlier this year, Delhi's Ranji Trophy match against Railways was not meant to be broadcast; however, plans changed at the last minute once Virat Kohli confirmed his participation. With so much interest around the return of Rohit and Kohli, the BCCI will have to consider such a scenario, although nothing has yet been decided. What Can Fans Still Do? A big plus is that fans can enjoy Rohit Sharma play live from the stands in Jaipur. Sadly, the same might not apply to the supporters in Bengaluru, for Delhi's matches have been moved from the Chinnaswamy Stadium to the COE.
