Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have begun their proactive preparations for the 2026 IPL season by sending their recovering fast bowlers to South Africa for rehabilitation and training. The franchise intends not to have another season marred by injuries just like in the previous season, where players were injured even before the start of the tournament. LSG's Plan to Get Injured Pacers Back For Matches According to a Cricbuzz report, LSG will be sending pacers Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan, and possibly up-and-coming signing Naman Tiwari to Durban during the upcoming SA20 season, where the three bowlers are expected to fly next week. They will be training under Durban Super Giants, LSG's sister franchise in South Africa. This move aims to get the bowlers back on a rehab schedule that is structured and supervised in a proper manner before the start of the IPL on March 26. Avesh and Mohsin have been out of action for some time now; Avesh missed parts of IPL 2025, while Mohsin was ruled out before the start of the season. There is no room for any risk this time around, so the focus is on purely getting the players fit rather than rushing them back. Also Read | Where to watch SA20 2025-26 in India? Notably, Moody, Arun, and Crowe also fall under the LSG coaching setup. This will allow them to have absolute coordinates in close monitoring of the players' progress. Even though none of the bowlers are currently under the BCCI or playing domestic cricket, LSG still recognized the need for board approval to avoid any hassles. Injuries Still Worrying LSG The pace battery of LSG suffered from injuries in the last two seasons. Besides Avesh and Mohsin, other injury-linked players include the South African Anrich Nortje and promising young pacer Mayank Yadav. Mayank, who, with his raw pace, took everyone's notice, has hardly played any competitive cricket for the last two years and is still in rehabilitation and is expected to return only next year, early. At the IPL 2026 auction, LSG spent quite a bit of money on a bunch of players including Wanindu Hasaranga, Anrich Nortje, Mukul Choudhary, Naman Tiwari, Akshat Raghuwanshi, and Josh Inglis. But what hangs now is fitness itself. With the early and timely dispatch of their bowlers to South Africa, LSG hopes to forge a fit and settled bowling unit, thus avoiding yet another injury-laden campaign.
