The young growing talent from Mumbai, Yashasvi jaiswal was almost on the verge of leaving his state team Mumbai and join Goa. Not only that, he even had managed the No Objection Certificate and then the India ODI Captain Rohit Sharma intervened and restricted him from taking such a step at the peak of his career. Mumbai has been a dominating cricket force in India, winning the Ranji Trophy for a record 42 times and giving many legends over the years. A report from Mumbai Mirror said that Jaiswal had a few discussions with the team's seniors before taking the U-turn. Rohit played the pioneer role, reminding Jaiswal that it was Mumbai whom he represented before debuting for India. Ajinkya NAik, the president of Mumbai Cricket Association, said, as quoted by the press, "Rohit asked Yashasvi to stay on in Mumbai at this stage of his career. He (Rohit) explained to Yashasvi that there was a lot of pride and prestige in playing for a team like Mumbai, which has won the Ranji Trophy a record 42 times." Naik further added, "Rohit also told Yashasvi that he must not forget that it was because of Mumbai cricket that he got a platform to show his talent and go on to play for India, and he must be grateful to the city for that. It was here in Mumbai that he started playing cricket on the maidans and then was picked for all the age group teams of Mumbai." What happened between Yashasvi Jaiswal and MCA? The 23-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal wanted to join Goa, citing personal reasons. He has written a letter to the officials too, asking them to grant the NOC in April this year. The association had even granted him the NOC, but Jaiswal requested them to take it back. Reacting more to this, Naik added, "After discussing this with Rohit and a few other stalwarts who represented India and Mumbai, Jaiswal sent an email to us requesting us to withdraw his NOC for a shift to Goa. We approved his request."
