In a shocking moment on Day 3 of the first Test match between England and India, a player who was not even in the senior England side emerged to field. England captain Ben Stokes left the field during the seventh over, and a Yorkshire cricket player called Yash Vagadia took his place as a substitute fielder. Who is Yash Vagadia? He is right-handed and only 21 years old. He began playing for Yorkshire at the U14 level before taking charge of the U18 team. He signed his inaugural rookie professional contract in 2022 and was also awarded the Yorkshire Academy Player of the Year. Yash played his first match in the One-Day Cup in 2024. Interestingly, Yash is not the lone cricketer from outside the England team who is at the Test match. Yorkshire's Jawad Akhtar and Noah Kelly have also been selected for 12th man responsibilities. All three form a part of the Yorkshire setup and are assisting with fielding responsibilities throughout the match.
