His father, Surendra Singh Sangwan (Bank Manager) and his mother Bhagwan Rati (Teacher) encouraged him in to pursue his dream. He represented Delhi at U19 level alongside Rishabh Pant. However, his lack of performance and high competition kept him out of the selection in Delhi's senior team. Hence, the bowler shifted to Haryana for a better recognition. However, after not receiving the amount of attention in Haryana, Sangwan decided to join the Indian Railways as Ticket Collector, as it would help him with both finance and career.
