The Major Cricket League is running towards the finishing line as Dallas hosted the eliminator match between the San Francisco Unicorns and Mumbai Indians New York. While chasing 131 runs, a bizarre yet funny incident happened with MINY batter Mitchell Bracewell when a ball slipped away from the SFY bowler Matthew Short. It happened on the very first ball of the 9th over. The ball slipped away from Short's hands and went towards the mid-wicket, citing possible dew that made his hands a bit slippery. Bracewell, who already took his stance was left stunned and the umpire called it a dead ball. Boult first bagged 2 for 19 with the new ball and later smashed an unbeaten 22 off 9 balls to seal his team’s first-ever win over SFU. Chasing 134, MINY were cruising at 37/0 before Matthew Short (3-22) and Hassan Khan (4-30) spun a web to reduce them to 108/8. With 25 needed off 22, Boult turned the game by smacking two sixes in the 19th over off Hassan. He calmly finished the chase with four balls to spare. Earlier, SFU crumbled to 16/5 inside 5 overs after being inserted, with Boult and Nosthush Kenjige picking two wickets each. Xavier Bartlett (44 off 24) led a late recovery, taking the Unicorns to 133 before Rushil Ugarkar (3-19) wrapped up the tail. Rain delayed the chase, but with no overs lost, the match resumed in full. Despite the late wobble, Boult’s composure handed MI New York a memorable win. They now advance to face Texas Super Kings in the Challenger on Friday.
