The cricketing world came to a standstill when two of its biggest names, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, decided to hang up their boots in the test format within a space of five days. First, it was the Indian test skipper Rohit Sharma who announced his retirement from the red-ball game on May 7 (Wednesday) through an Instagram story wherein he shared the message along with a picture of his test cap. Apart from the IPL, where Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will continue to represent RCB and MI respectively, fans will have to wait for long periods in action. For now, IPL 2025 is set to resume on May 17 and both these men will be in the thick of things but once it concludes on June 3, there is not a lot of ODI cricket on the horizon for team India and fans will miss their favorite stars on the field. What is the date when Virat & Rohit will play for India next? However, all is not lost as far as the fans are concerned but they will have to wait till at least August 17, 2025 because that is when India is scheduled to play their next ODI when they visit Bangladesh for a white-ball series comprising of 3 ODIs and then 3 T20Is. As per team India's FTP (Future Tour Programs), they are scheduled to play 9 more ODIs in 2025 and then a minimum of 15 in 2026. Remember, the next ODI World Cup is in 2027 in South Africa and it is not guaranteed as of now that both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be playing international cricket then.
