The Women's Premier League mega Auction for the 2027 season has reportedly been scheduled on Novemebr 27, in New Delhi. A report from IANS said that there were two options regarding the venue: New Delhi and Goa. Later the committee finalized New Delhi as the venue. Unlike the Indian Premier League, the WPL will take just a day. It has been scheduled in a luxury hotel in Aerocity. Initially, Bharat mandapam was chosen, but it will be occupied from 14-27 for hosting the India International Trade Fair. Notably, there were three dates that were proposed. According to IANS, the dates were November 26, 27 and 28. A toss happened, and the 27th was finalized. A source said to IANS, "There was a toss-up between November 26, 27, and 28. Retention Policy in the 2025 Women's Premier League Five teams play in the Women's Premier League—Mumbai Indians, Royal challengers bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriors and Gujarat Giants. All five teams have been asked to submit the final list of retained players by Wednesday. According to the WPL Prospectus, a team can retain a maximum of five players, which includes at least one uncapped player. Otherwise, a team is allowed to retain three capped Indian players, two uncapped Indian players and two overseas, keeping the total count of 5 while retaining. Read also: Anya Shrubsole set to join RCB as bowling coach Retention purse calculations The retention slabs have been structured as follows: INR 3.5 crore for the first retained player, INR 2.5 crore for the second, INR 1.75 crore for the third, INR 1 crore for the fourth, and INR 50 lakh for the fifth. Franchises can also exercise the Right to Match (RTM) option, which enables them to reclaim players from their 2025 WPL squads, with a cap of five RTMs per team. The purse deductions based on the number of retained players are set at INR 9.25 crore for five retentions, INR 8.75 crore for four, INR 7.75 crore for three, INR 6 crore for two, and INR 3.5 crore for one. The number of RTMs available to a franchise will depend on how many players they choose to retain — teams retaining fewer players will have more RTMs to use. Those opting to retain all five players will not be eligible for the RTM facility. The player registration deadline for the WPL mega auction is November 18, with the final list of registered players to be announced shortly after.
