A string of low scores continued for Virat Kohli in IPL 2026 as he departed for a golden duck in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s fixture against Mumbai Indians at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Sunday. The former RCB captain was sent back to the pavilion by Deepak Chahar in the very first over of the chase, which also happens to be his second consecutive duck in the tournament. The last time Kohli had registered back-to-back ducks in the IPL was back in the year 2022, when the RCB batter departed for zero against Lucknow Super Giants at the DY Patil Stadium on April 19 and against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Brabourne Stadium on April 23. On the fourth delivery of the first over, Deepak Chahar offered Kohli a fuller-length ball outside the off stump, as the latter looked to loft the ball over the mid-off region. He, however, did not get the correct connection as the ball struck the top part of his bat and landed straight into the hands of Raj Bawa who dived forward to grab the sharp catch. This was the second consecutive duck for the 36-year-old batter as he was bowled for zero by Prince Yadav against Lucknow Super Giants on May 7 in Lucknow. That departure had already created concern among fans about his form as his golden duck against MI further added pressure on the veteran batter. When he faced LSG, the batter was dismissed on a golden duck by Dushmantha Chameera. After a few days later at Brabourne stadium, SRH bowler Marco Jansen got the RCB batter for a duck on his first delivery. Despite the rare blemish, Kohli is undoubtedly one of the greatest IPL batters to ever play the game, and has repeatedly answered back strongly in lean patches. Even after scoring two ducks, the RCB talisman has 379 runs ahead of his name in 11 innings in IPL 2026. However, back-to-back ducks at a critical juncture for RCB in IPL 2026 has certainly become a talking point now.
