In case South Africa defeats India, then it will be after 25 years that South Africa sealed a Test series in India. In 2000, Sachin Tendulkar's India suffered a 2-nil whitewash against South Africa. The first match was in Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium on February 24, while the second match was played in Bengaluru on March 2. 4-wicket defeat in Mumbai In the first match, Hansie Cronje's South Africa defeated India by 4 wickets. Pollock, Nantie Hayward, and Nicky Boje took two apiece. Batting next, South Africa heaped 489 runs with two 90+ scores in the team, from Jacques Kallis (95) and Lance Klusener (97). Anil Kumble took 6, and Kartik 3. Batting next, India was bundled out by 250, with only a decent contribution from Mohammad Azaruddin (102). Despite India being whitewashed, Sachin Tendulkar was given the player-of-the-series award with 146 runs and 3 wickets in the series. Anil Kumble was the highest wicket taker of the series, with 12 wickets.
